Groove Media Inc.’s mission is to revolutionize the video gaming industry by combining traditional video games, skill gaming and e-commerce. Jon Walsh,
Director
Jon Walsh founded Groove in September
of 2001 and has more than eleven years
of video game industry experience.
Since inception, Groove has published
more than 20 game titles that have been
released globally, including Playboy: The
Mansion, Pariah and Marine Sharpshooter.
Prior to joining Groove, Mr. Walsh was the
Canadian Sales Manager of Activision,
a top-five global publisher of video
games. Mr. Walsh received his Honours
BA in Business Administration from the
University of Western Ontario and his
MBA from the Richard Ivey School of
Business at the University of Western
Ontario.
Trevor Fencott,
Director
Mr. Fencott brings seven years of game
industry experience to the Groove team.
Prior to joining Groove, he built the video
game practice at the law firm Goodmans
LLP and Goodmans Venture Group,
where he advised developers, publishers
and the investment community on
licensing, game development and
financing. He currently sits on the
business committee of the International
Game Developers Association (IGDA). Mr.
Fencott received his Honours BA from
Queen's University and his LLB from the
University of Western Ontario.
Michael Haines,
Director
Mr. Haines has over eight years of
experience in the video game industry
and sixteen years of experience in
marketing and communications. In
July 2006, Mr. Haines moved to Dublin
Ireland as the Managing Director of
Groove's wholly-owned company, Groove
Games Limited. He joined Groove as
its Chief Operating Officer in January
2003. Previously, he was a founder and
Executive Vice President of Publishing
and Licensing for HIP Interactive Corp.,
a company that listed on the Toronto
Stock Exchange in December 1999.
Earlier, Mr. Haines was an Associate and
the Vice President of Marketing for Hill &
Gertner Capital Corp. and the Manager
of Marketing Services for the Ontario
Lottery Corporation.
Harvey Solursh,
Director
Prior to joining Groove, Mr. Solursh,
C.A., was the Chief Financial Officer
of CryptoLogic Inc. Previously, Mr.
Solursh was a founding partner at
Solursh, Feldman & Partners, Chartered
Accountants, where he practiced
for 30 years. His arenas of expertise
include financing emerging companies,
commercial and venture capital financing,
private placements, and asset and share
purchases and sales.
